Dance with the music!
One day after school, we were meeting at the playground ......
Kate: "Let's dance with the music!"
Eve: "Ok! I can always dance with the music. Let's start!"
Ally: "Very well then. But I can't hear any music playing. How to dance?"
Mia: "The music is already in your heart! Don't you think?"
Everybody nodded knowingly.
Along with the music playing in our heart, we were dancing and enjoying.
We can always have music playing in our heart.

The Grandfather Clock
There is always someone we missed so much in our life.
And there is always an item, whenever we seen it will remind us how badly we missed our special one.
Happy Father's Day!

My Top 10 Good Mood List
![]() |
Have you ever noticed that every time when you are doing something in a good mood, you will usually get a better result than when you did the same thing in bad mood?
It is common sense. I am sure many of you have this experience. And even you don't, you know I am right and it is not hard to figure it out.
Everybody prefer to have a good mood all the time. But the real challenge is: How to keep yourself in good mood? Or how to remember to bring along your good mood with you when you are doing something important?
Here is my top 10 "Mood Booster":
- Chocolate bar - It usually helps, especially when I need a quick mood boost.
- Listen to a favorite song - It works when you get bored by your homework and study.
- Helping people - You will be in a good mood for the whole day.
- Be punctual in time - I hate to be late and I feel good being punctual in time.
- Watch a disney movie - They are entertaining, educational and inspirational.
- Singing when you shower - A mini "personal" concert in your bathroom really rocks.
- Meet an old friend - A "must do" if you are really in bad mood.
- Walking in zig-zag pattern - I know it looks weird, but it works.
- Do some chores, and concentrate on them - It helps your mind to settle down.
- Say "Good Morning" to yourself - It will remind you to live for today and to carry a good mood.
How about you? Do you have any "good mood" tips to share?

Preparation that works
Last Saturday we had a ballet performance in the Town Hall, it was a fund raising event to help an elderly centre in our neighborhood. I was selected to perform a two-minutes pas seul (solo dance). My mother and grandmother also came and watched the show.
After the show, mother squeezed me in her arms and told me the performance was marvelous and I looked very confident on the stage. She burst out with tears and said she was so proud of me. My mouth couldn't come out any word to express my thankfulness, so I just gave her a big sweet kiss.
Then I told mom, I had been preparing this show for almost a month.
Once I heard that I needed to perform a solo, I was so nervous and worried. Although I also realized that it was a great opportunity being able to dance in front of the public. Therefore, I told myself I mustn't chicken out. I must get my mind and body ready for that. And the good thing was, I still had the time to prepare.
During the next four weeks prior the show, I was working non-stop. Physically I was practicing at least 3 hours per day. And mentally I repeatedly imagining myself dancing on the stage with hundreds of eyes watching. Slowly day after day my anxiety and nervousness were faded. There left only one voice in my mind when I was finally waiting at the backstage on the night of the show: "Stay focused! Just dance it out!"
When the curtain opened, I was simply repeating, almost mindlessly, what I had been rehearsing for the last whole month. My body just flowed so smoothly along with the music. My mind was so peaceful and calm and thinking of nothing else, until I heard the loud applause from the audiences.
I have made it! What I had been working hard on had finally paid out!
Now I have learned how important preparation is. No matter you are doing a ballet performance, having an exam or making a speech or whatever things in life. Confidence just won't come naturally to conquer the fear of failure. But what we can do is to prepare ourselves until we know we can do what we have to do.
Kate, March 2011.
P.S. Lately I have watched the Oscar-winner movie "The King's Speech". The story really inspires me!

Playing your heart out ... be enthusiastic!
What ever you do in life, be enthusiastic.
Find your passion and ignite it. Your enthusiasm will give you a better chance to realize your dream. Of course nothing come easily. There will always be some stumbling blocks waiting ahead of you. Don't worry, they are only there for you to discover how badly you want to actualize your dream. Accomplishment after striving hard is the most rewarding thing to keep you going.
This is one of the most important things I learned from ballet.

I can always do better
Many of my classmates in the ballet class are quite talented. Like Ally, she learns fast and she can handle new maneuvers without much difficulties. For me, somehow I am quite a slow learner. I always need to practice very hard for every single movement and taking much longer time than the others to learn it.
People might think I should feel upset, but in fact I don't. Somehow I show my improvement by practicing harder than the others. Well, it is true that I need to put more effort than the rest of the class but at the end of day I am still able to make it. That's my way.
And I am happy. Because I know day by day I am getting better and better.
Descartes once said: "Conquer yourself rather than the world!"
Let's share this wisdom, and always doing things with our best effort to conquer our own selves!

Our Chinese New Year Special Dance Performance
Last year we visited China and joined the Chinese New Year celebration there. We were really impressed by the festive atmosphere and we all like the lion dance very much. So this year we decided to do a little play in our dance school to celebrate the Year of Rabbit. We have come up with an idea to combine the traditional chinese lion dance with some ballet moves.
Hope you all like it!
Happy Chinese New Year!
